Starting from humble beginnings with 45 members in 1993, U3A Pine Rivers now offers a variety of classes and activities to more than 1000 members. Read about the History of U3A Pine Rivers.
Members are reminded that all classes and activities at U3A Pine Rivers will finish on 13 December, for a 4 week summer break.
Classes restart from 13 January, however not all classes will start that week. Be sure to check your Jan-June 2025 Newsletter for the start date for your classes for 2025.
In addition, U3A Centre (1480 Anzac Ave Kallangur) will be open 9am - 3pm on Monday 6 and Wednesday 8 January for renewals and new membership applications.
The Management Committee decided to purchase a printer that will print more durable membership badges on-site. Your badge will now be retained for the duration of your membership and will no longer be issued yearly.
The Grants’ Officer, Greg Weekes, sought a grant from the City of Moreton Bay Council to help in covering the considerable printer cost. We were successful in our application for $2000 from their Local Community Support Grant towards the purchase of the printer.
U3A Pine Rivers is very grateful for this financial assistance from City of Moreton Bay.
Please wear your badge with pride, as it not only proves you are financial, it is also so much more friendly to be able to know people’s names.
Thank you also, to Joy Royce for sewing a cover for the printer to keep it dust-free between uses.
The Third Age is the best time of your life!
For more information, please call us on 3880 6677 or drop into the U3A Pine Rivers Centre, 1480 Anzac Ave, Kallangur.
Reception is open Monday to Friday 9 am to 12 midday.
Everyone who "works' at U3A Pine Rivers is a volunteer. Without the people who give their time freely, this organisation would not exist.
There are some positions, or roles, that require some level of committment.
All of these roles would benefit from an assistant, or a backup person. Do you have an interest, or skills in these areas? Speak to a member of the committee about how you could help. Consider joining the committee, which meets once a month, or nominating for an executive position in the future.
There are many other ways you could offer your time to help U3A Pine Rivers. For many small tasks you could spend a few extra minutes before or after your class. There is no need to allocate another day unless you wish to.
Volunteering offers vital help to people in need, worthwhile causes, and the community, but the benefits can be even greater for you, the volunteer. Volunteering and helping others can reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose.
Have a chat to anyone on the committee, about how you could give some of your time to help others in U3A, and yourself.
