Starting from humble beginnings with 45 members in 1993, U3A Pine Rivers now offers a variety of classes and activities to more than 1000 members. Read about the History of U3A Pine Rivers.
Using smart phones and tablets can be confusing and frustrating. More and more businesses and government departments are connecting with clients through email and apps. I may be able to help you to develop basic tech skills for day to day use, or assist with one-off requests such as setting up email, downloading an app, or how to fill in a form and return it. For help with your mobile phone, tablet or laptop, bring your device and see Joy on Tuesday mornings at U3A Centre Kallangur from 9:00 am. |
Our new total for this important fundraiser is $336. Thank you to everyone who contributed in any way.
The annual campaign is a National Day of Action highlighting the importance of meaningful conversations. This year’s event is being held Thursday 12 September 2024.
In 2024, R U OK? is calling on everyone to Ask R U OK? Any Day because life happens every day.
R U OK? encourages Australians to check in with others all year around. Recent research commissioned by R U OK? found that people who are regularly asked if they are okay feel more supported, connected and cared about.
The Third Age is the best time of your life!

Everyone who "works' at U3A Pine Rivers is a volunteer. Without the people who give their time freely, this organisation would not exist.
There are some positions, or roles, that require some level of committment.
All of these roles would benefit from an assistant, or a backup person. Do you have an interest, or skills in these areas? Speak to a member of the committee about how you could help. Consider joining the committee, which meets once a month, or nominating for an executive position in the future.
There are many other ways you could offer your time to help U3A Pine Rivers. For many small tasks you could spend a few extra minutes before or after your class. There is no need to allocate another day unless you wish to.
Volunteering offers vital help to people in need, worthwhile causes, and the community, but the benefits can be even greater for you, the volunteer. Volunteering and helping others can reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose.
Have a chat to anyone on the committee, about how you could give some of your time to help others in U3A, and yourself.
